A four-year loan of a beautiful and fantastic Vuillaume violin constitutes the first prize of the competition. All rounds are open to the public and take place at Kirchgemeindehaus in Gstaad. The first round is a solo violin program, of course Bach will be played, but also the only imposed piece of the competition: the Suite N°1 for solo violin by Ernest Bloch. The second round will contrast a classical sonata (Beethoven or Schubert) with a virtuoso piece (Ysaÿe or Saint-Saëns) while the final round will allow us to listen to a classical concerto by Mozart as well as a romantic concerto freely chosen by the candidate.
