Mieczysław Wajnberg International Violin Competition

Until recently Mieczysław Wajnberg had been completely unknown. Since his legacy was discovered, in a short time, he has come to be regarded as one of the greatest Polish composers of the 20th century, alongside Karol Szymanowski, Witold Lutosławski, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, and Krzysztof Penderecki. Today Weinberg’s oeuvre is being enthusiastically discovered by ever more music lovers worldwide, the number of the musicians performing his solo, chamber and symphony works growing daily. Young violinists from around the world are encouraged to discover the timeless beauty and infinite profundity of his music which is able to strike the inmost and most sensitive chord.
