Later, he continued to study under Vera Rosza and Elisabeth Gr\u00fcmmer at the Op\u00e9ra Studio, Paris.A member of the Lyon Opera Company from 1980 to 1985, he has since been a guest at all the major European opera houses and festivals, as well as renowned American opera venues: Santa F\u00e9 (NM), Los Angeles Opera, New Orleans Opera, and Colon Buenos Aires (Argentina). His operatic repertoire is immense, from Monteverdi to David Lang. Debussy\u2019s only opera has been his \u201ccarte de visite\u201d, first as Pell\u00e9as, then as Golaud. Named \u201cMr. M\u00e9lodie\u201d by American critics, Fran\u00e7ois Le Roux gives numerous recitals accompanied by such renowned names as Graham Johnson, Roger Vignoles, Christian Ivaldi, Olivier Godin, and Jeff Cohen. He conducts masterclasses dedicated to the interpretation of French songs and recital repertoire around the world: Orford and Lachine Academy (Qu\u00e9bec, Canada), Vancouver (BC, Canada), Minneapolis Song Source Festival (USA), Sibelius Academy Helsinki (Finland), Kyoto Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 M\u00e9lodie Fran\u00e7aise (Japan), Central Conservatory of Music Beijing (China), Association M\u00e9lodie Fran\u00e7aise (Seoul, South Korea), and the Acad\u00e9mie Ravel de Saint-Jean-de-Luz (France).He is the Artistic Director and Founder of the Acad\u00e9mie Francis Poulenc Tours, where every year since 1997, students have the opportunity to learn the interpretation of French Song. What\u2019s more, Le Roux organized the \u201cFrench Song Concert Seasons\u201d of the Biblioth\u00e8que Nationale de France in Paris between 1997 and 2002.Le Roux has recorded many works by Faur\u00e9, Debussy, Ravel, Poulenc, Saint-Sa\u00ebns, Gounod, Reynaldo Hahn, are more with many famous publishing labels. His CD of Henri Dutilleux\u2019s Complete Songs (Passavant Music), won the \u201cOrph\u00e9e d\u2019or Michel Garcin\u201d of the Acad\u00e9mie du disque lyrique in 2016. Moreover, he has also released a CD of Andr\u00e9 Jolivet melodies under the same label. In addition to recording music, Le Roux wrote and published Le Chant intime, on the interpretation of French Art Song, published by Fayard in August 2004, with co-author Romain Raynaldy. It has been translated in Japanese and published by Shunjusha\u00a0(Tokyo). More recently, his second book L\u2019op\u00e9ra fran\u00e7ais-une question de style-De l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation lyrique\u00a0published by Hermann was issued in 2019.He has been awarded the grade of \u201cChevalier\u201d in the French National Order of \u201cLes Arts et Lettres\u201d in 1996, and was selected as \"Musical Personality of the Year, 1997\" by the French Critics Union.
