He is frequently invited to work with many of the world\u2019s leading symphony orchestras (Budapest Festival Orchestra, Tonhalle Orchestra, Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Russian National Orchestra, Kremerata Baltica, Academy of St. Martin in the Fields). Among the conductors he has worked with we find Sir Georg Solti, S\u00e1ndor V\u00e9gh, Iv\u00e1n Fischer, \u00c1d\u00e1m Fischer, Heinz Holliger, Horst Stein, Leopold Hager, Zolt\u00e1n Kocsis. He appears regularly at leading international festivals from Marlboro to Salzburg and Edinburgh. Before his retirement, Alfred Brendel had a close cooperation with D\u00e9nes V\u00e1rjon: their joint Liszt project was presented, among others, in the UK and Italy. He also performs frequently with his wife Izabella Simon playing four hands and two pianos recitals together. In the past decade they organized and led several chamber music festivals, the most recent one being, kamara.hu\u201d at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest.He has recorded for the Naxos, Capriccio and Hungaroton labels with critical acclaim. Teldec released his CD with S\u00e1ndor Veress\u2019s \u201cHommage \u00e0 Paul Klee\u201d (performed with Andr\u00e1s Schiff, Heinz Holliger and the Budapest Festival Orchestra). His recording \u201cHommage \u00e0 G\u00e9za Anda\u201d, (PAN-Classics Switzerland) has received very important international echoes. His solo CD with pieces of Berg, Jan\u00e1\u010dek and Liszt was released in 2012 by ECM. In 2015 he recorded the Schumann piano concerto with the WDR Symphonieorchester and Heinz Holliger, and all five Beethoven piano concertos with Concerto Budapest and Andr\u00e1s Keller.D\u00e9nes V\u00e1rjon graduated from the Franz Liszt Music Academy in 1991, where his professors included S\u00e1ndor Falvai, Gy\u00f6rgy Kurt\u00e1g and Ferenc Rados.Parallel to his studies he was regular participant at international master classes with Andr\u00e1s Schiff. D\u00e9nes V\u00e1rjon won first prize at the Piano Competition of Hungarian Radio, at the Le\u00f3 Weiner Chamber Music Competition in Budapest and at the G\u00e9za Anda Competition in Zurich. He was awarded with the Liszt, the S\u00e1ndor Veress and the Bart\u00f3k-P\u00e1sztory Prize. In 2020 he received Hungary\u2019s supreme award in culture, the Kossuth Prize.
