Das Lied International Singing Competition

With prize money of 40,000 euros, the song competition is one of the most highly endowed of its kind. Until 2015, “Das Lied” took place in Berlin and moved to Heidelberg in 2017, where it found a new home under the roof of the International Song Centre Heidelberg. The next competition will take place from February, 22 to 26, 2021, applications are not possible anymore. The competition is held every two years and therefore takes place the next time in 2023, much likely including this year’s repertoire of songs by Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann and Aribert Reimann. Together with Thomas Quasthoff, founder and jury chairman of the competition, it was decided that this year’s contestant can apply in 2023 even if they have reached the age limit of 32 years. This year’s registration fee will be fully refunded.
