Accompagnateur
Born in 1992, Jean-Baptiste Doulcet is a pianist, improviser, composer. In 2019, he won the 4th prize and the Audience Prize in the Marguerite-Long competition (chaired by Martha Argerich), as well as the Modern Times Prize in the Clara Haskil 2019 competition (President Christian Zacharias). Jean-Baptiste is also the 2nd prize winner of the 8th Nordic Piano Competition and awarded by the Charles Oulmont Foundation.
Considered one of the rising stars of the French piano like Alexandre Kantorow and Rémi Geniet (Classica Magazine), he released his first CD recorded live during a Beethoven / Schumann recital as well as improvisations (label les Spiriades, 2017). We have heard it in recent years in France (Pleyel, Gaveau, Cortot, La Roque d’Anthéron, Lisztomania, and in 2020 at the Folle Journée in Nantes and Nohant), in Denmark, in the United States, in Germany, in Italy, in China … Recognized for his pianistic personality as much as a soloist as for his sensitivity as a chamber musician (he played with Augustin Dumay, Marc Coppey, the Hermès quartet, Jérôme Pernoo …), but also for his improvisation recitals (Nohant Festival, Aarhus Kammermuzik Festival, Glafsfjordens Festival…), Jean-Baptiste embodies multiple artistic facets.
After studying at the CNSMdp with Claire Désert (in piano and chamber music), Thierry Escaich and Jean-François Zygel (in improvisation), he now works with big names in piano pedagogy: Julia Mustonen-Dahlkvist with whom he has been improving for two years now, Dmitri Bashkirov, Hortense Cartier-Bresson, Epifanio Comis, Alexey Lebedev …
As a composer he has written no less than twenty works for solo instruments, chamber music or ensemble music. The Gewandhaus commissioned him for a second String Quartet, created in 2018 in Leipzig; the creation of his Trio with piano takes place at the Petit Palais in Paris, and personalities such as Jérôme Pernoo or Raphaël Pidoux perform his works. His Passion Trilogy for 12 cello ensemble based on poems by Goethe, is published by Alfonce Productions.
